We are located in Middleham, Leyburn, Lower Wensleydale. Middleham dates back to roman times, although it is more well known for being the home of 12th century Middleham Castle where Richard III once lived.

Bedrooms
Garden Cottage is a beautiful 2-bedroom early 1800's stone cottage, featuring a garden with views over the dales, decorated throughout in subtle Farrow & Ball colours. Both bedrooms have double beds made up with crisp luxury white bed linen, the larger of the bedrooms beautiful views over the dales. The smaller of the bedrooms (which is quite small) has patio doors leading onto a balcony and can be configured into 2 small singles which are suitable for children or rather slender adults.
 
Bathroom
The bathroom, totally renovated in March 2021 has with Burlington roll top bath & Basin and individual shower enclosure, tiled in a rather relaxing yet traditional sage green. There is a separate WC, perfectly private, with French grey wood panelling. Our towels are huge fluffy white bath sheets and our bathroom products, even the bath salts to soak those tired feet in, are from The Bath House Shop in Cumbria.
 
Ground Floor
Our ground floor is stone and underfloor heated throughout, the living room has wooden patio doors onto the garden with the most stunning views and a wood burning stove, Laura Ashely furniture plus our favourite, perfectly worn in leather wing back chair - essential for a snooze by the fire. The kitchen was totally renovated in 2021, a countryside haven of Dove grey with handmade handles and drawer pulls hand made locally in Co Durham and a dining table with a refurbished vintage bench sofa and sheepskins.
 
Outside
In the centre of Middleham, but peacefully tucked away down a private lane, you will have peace and quiet,  you will also hear the faint clip clop off the horses and jockeys going to train. The garden is paved with Yorkshire stone, with stone walls and has a BBQ, luxurious grey wooden sofas and table perfect for a sun downer or a coffee with the Sunday papers.
 
Welcome Hamper
On arrival you will find a welcome Hamper, with hand chosen wine (choosing was a tough job, but somebody had to do it), cheese, milk, fresh local bread, eggs and local treats for both human and our four-legged family friend.
 
After you have booked with us will send all the detailed house amenities to help you pack lighter, and very soon on our website, to save you the hassle of researching,  you will find details of local pub recommendations, detailed walks, where to shop and things to do in the local area. Did we mention there are 4 pubs just 1 minute walk from the cottage?

The house is on a private lane, you can drive to the front door of the cottage to load/unload. However parking is on the village square (a large cobbled area just 1 minute from the cottage).
Bus route is the 159 Bus route Richmond through to Ripon (the most scenic bus route ever!)
